I offer language immersion courses for children and adults at my second home in the heart of the French countryside. Madaillan, in the Lot-et Garonne region of southwest France is a superb location in which to immerse yourself in the French language and experience the authentic local culture.

The Setting

The house, which has been beautifully restored by my partner, Francois, is set in an idyllic 'parc' of plum trees and cedars on a plateau between two valleys. The neighbouring farms and orchards produce an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables which make leisurely French meals a pleasure! The house is full of original features, including the 'four-a-prunes', which would have been used to dry the plums and turn them into the famous 'Pruneaux d'Agen'. The house tastefully combines original features with modern design and offers a high standard of accommodation.

The Local Culture

The historic bastides and chateaux of this region offer a fascinating glimpse into medieval life in France and are among many interesting places to visit. The local people enjoy organising entertainment and there are many music, theatre and art events, as well as 'fêtes' and 'Marchés nocturnes', which are a great way to enjoy mixing with the local people and experiencing the French 'joie de vivre'. The local towns of Villeneuve-sur-lot and Agen have many attractions including museums, cathedrals, a cinema and a great selection of chic shops and superb restaurants.

Outdoor Activities

There are a variety of outdoor activities within the local area including Accrobranche, tennis, cycling, walking, horse riding, swimming and boat trips along the Canal du Midi.
