One-to-One Online Specialist Study Skills Support & Mentoring

Study Skills Support (ASC)

Whatever reason your child needs help and support with academic subjects, one-to-one specialist study skills lessons can help them improve confidence and achieve success. Sessions are designed to identify a student's personal barriers to learning and work on strategies to overcome these. This is particularly beneficial for students with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, ADHD or autistic spectrum conditions.

I am qualified to support students in higher education with autism or ADHD to develop the academic skills and knowledge required to be independent and successful at this level. These include understanding academic task requirements and ensuring work is planned and structured correctly to meet the tasks success criteria/learning objectives. Many students often find their condition causes them to struggle with time management and organisation; planning and structuring reports and assignments, preparing for exams and taking part in group presentations.

Specialised Mentoring (ASC)

I am also qualified to support students in identifying and overcoming any barriers to their learning that relate to their diagnosis of autism or ADHD, which may include difficulty managing stress and experiencing specific or generalised anxiety. Although sessions do not involve counselling or other psychological wellbeing techniques such as meditation or mindfulness, I am able to signpost students to these services if required.
S. Atkinson - parent of pupil sitting CE exam in Year 6 and and GCSE exam in Year 11

Helen is an amazing tutor; she was able to extend our son's writing and comprehension skills successfully in Year 6, preparing him fully for the entrance exam to a private school. More recently she has been an enormous support with GCSE English giving detailed and expert guidance. I would highly recommend her lessons.
K. Hall - parent of GCSE English student with dyslexia in Year 11

I can highly recommend Helen as an English tutor. Helen is very professional patient and organised and also gives valuable feedback at the end of each session. My son is dyslexic and really struggled with all aspects of English. Helen recognised his weaker areas and understood that he found certain areas difficult and focused on them. I am confident that my son passed his GCSE English due to Helen’s sessions, this meant so much to us as if he hadn’t passed his GCSE English he would not have been able to attend the college he wanted to go to as they would not have accepted him.
S. Szucs - parent of KS 2, 3 and 4 pupils of English

Helen is extremely professional and dedicated teacher. Her lessons are really well structured and interesting and she tailors each lessons and homework to suit my kids’ needs. She attended our house regularly before transitioning to on-line lessons which provided my kids with a stable and continuous support to learn effectively. Helen has made a huge impact to my kids’ performance and confidence and my kids genuinely look forward to their lessons. I have no hesitation in recommending Helen to others.
