Maths Tuition

Would your child benefit from one-to-one maths support?

Many children can lose confidence in their maths ability in a whole class situation. One-to-one tutoring at home is an effective way to rebuild confidence through a targeted and structured approach to learning.

Whether your child is getting to grips with fractions, decimals and percentages in Year 6, or solving more complex word problems involving ratio and proportion at Foundation GCSE level, they may benefit from some additional support and guidance along their own individual maths journey.

As a qualified primary and learning support teacher with experience of the maths curriculum right across the primary and secondary age ranges, I am able to identify what your child's current ability level is and set achievable and challenging goals for progress up to Foundation GCSE level.

Getting the 'basics' right in the early years is worthwhile, as these underpin all future learning and can impact children's transition to secondary school. When students are approaching tests or exams, any gaps in their knowledge and understanding can impact on their confidence and achievement, so being able to work through difficult areas with a tutor can be particularly beneficial.

Although the school curriculum is designed to enable pupils to revisit areas previously covered in order to consolidate and build on previous learning, many children require a greater amount of practice in order to master topics. As a tutor, I am able to respond to your child's individual needs and ensure that teaching is appropriate to the pace and style of their learning.

I have supported many students to pass GCSE maths at Foundation level (grade 4 or 5). For those students who have previously failed their maths GCSE in Year 11, extra support with maths can be transformative, enabling them to go on to achieve a pass in the resit exams, which not only 'unlocks the door' to many future educational and career opportunities, but can also restore a young person's confidence.

One-to-one maths lessons take place in the comfort of your own home and make use of the latest educational software to create both an interesting and effective learning experience.

Online lessons are also available via Teams or Google Meet.

Homework is an important part of the learning process, giving your child the opportunity to revise and consolidate new areas worked on in the face-to-face session.
